21 03 2008

Conserving water in the home can help to preserve local water supplies, lower utility bills and reduce your footprint on the enviroment.  Here are four easy ways to start conserving water in your kitchen.

  • Chill drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap until water comes out cool
  • Use a compost bin or indoor composter to dispose of food waste instead of putting it through your garbage disposal
  • Run your dishwasher only when it is full and use the shortest cycle possible
  • Instead of pouring used cooking water down the drain, reuse it to water plants
